I was thinking of writing like a horror-fantacy kind of thing, like there;s cool weird stuff but also like creeps that are all deformed and what not.

Personally, I like crime, mystery, occult, and the occasional archaeological adventure novel (Indiana Jones still rocks 20 some years later).
Really, you should write what you know. What you are familiar with. And what you like.

Write for yourself. You are going to spend many months on that book and if it doesn't interest YOU, you won't finish.
When the draft is done, take a good look at what you've written and what genre it fits in. Then get a copy of Writers Market. While you are revising, you can research the markets you want to submit to. Now is not the time.

i like high fantasy books with dragons and magic. Some examples of high fantasy r the inheritance trilogy and the inkheart trilogy.
