i mean... the slave trade... is it acctually unlawful to own, or buy someone?

Yes, it is, everywhere. (That is, yes it is unlawful; no it is not possible to own someone) In the United States it is unconstitutional under the 13th amendment, passed after the Civil War.

Slavery was abolished in the United States in 1862. You cannot own a slave, no... However, outside the US there is what is commonly referred to as a "slave trade".

It depends on the country -- in many nations, yes.

In the US -- only children can be "owned" in that fashion -- because the laws effectively allow parents to treat children as slaves and control everything that happens to them -- any other form of slavery is banned by the 13th Amendment.

it's prohibited by the Constitituion in the 13th Amendment since you seem to be refering to slavery.

Today, it is entirely illegal. But, sadly, it still happens. Many poor girls are part of an illegal system called sex trade in which girls are frankly, sold for sex.
