Well first off, I don't think it is sending an especially bad message. They are not swapping partners in a sexual way. All that happens is a stranger comes to the home, and demonstrates their values system to the family. This opens the eyes of the parents and the kids.
They usually find extreme examples of people for the show and insert the opposite kind of person into the family. So uptight Christian right winger, versus Wiccan liberal. Stuff like that.
I think that while the show is just a cheap reality show, it may at least expose the kids to the concept that maybe there are other ways to be. Too often kids are told by a family who are hardly 'normal' that what they do is normal. But a show like this makes them realize that normal is a very subjective term and that everything is not black and white.

This belongs in the television soap and drama section not Married and Divorced.
I think it show's the kid's to respect and love the mother they have and if the mother they have is lazy or into weird stuff as are most of the mother's I have seen on these crazy shows and some of their dad's then it helped them to redefine their life and belief's , seriously though if society didnt act like a pack of stuck up snobs who think they're better then everyone else , maybe we wouldnt need a stupid reality tv show to attempt to show us whats right and what's wrong in this insanity we call life.
I would love to go on wife swap just to show my family what they're missing , but they dont do it in Aus.

I so agree with you. I've seen the programme and its just rubbish. I swear some of the couples are selected for maximum annoyance or audience reaction.

My wife and I would love to take part in this programme, and be as nice as we can to the other couple and their family, just to disappoint the programme's makers, who are trying to profit from others' difficulties.
We can just imagine how annoyed the producers would be if the two couples involved became firm friends and didn't argue about anything. No - one would watch it, would they?

calm down. it's not like the husbands are swapping their wives sexually. it's just showing each family a different way of life. it's actually good for children to know that their family type is not the only type.

Besides making other cultures etc.... available in ways that most would never have the opportunity to experience, the lesson is to respect and be thankful for what you have because it could always be worse.

It is the sickest message that children are getting from stupid things like "wife swap" and from so many other disgusting things that are going on in this world today.
Nobody seems to know what marriage and family even is!
