I have very mixed feelings whenever a situation like this happens.... I feel very sad for the family, but also the dogs.... Dogs have no sense of consequence for their actions, whereas humans do. A dog only knows something is wrong when it is punished after the event but learns from these negative experiences. You just have to pick up a newspaper to read the cruelty that humans inflict on other humans, and animals for that matter. However, if I had to rehome these dogs, would I feel comfortable... No. It's probably better that these dogs were put to sleep rather that spend the rest of their lives miserably isolated in a kennel with no prospect of ever being rehomed. Many people don't seem to be aware that many dogs are capable of inflicting horrendous injuries, but having domesticated these creatures - it happens very rarely. But when it does happen, it's usually children that are attacked. I believe this is mostly due to many people treating their dogs more like people, than animals and inviting them into our homes with no boundaries and no sense of hierarchy. I'm not saying all these incidents are the fault of the owners, but most cannot be totally blameless. A dog has a natural instinct to give chase to many animals such as cats and birds. A border collie has an urge to chase and herd sheep. Its our ability to train dogs in such a way that we can use some of these instincts for our gain. When the dogs attacked the baby - do we really think that the dogs knew it was a baby, did they know what they were doing was wrong, did they mean to do this if they knew what would be the consequences.... or is the inheriant instinct/behavouir of a meat-eating predatory animal???? I'll leave this for everybody else to decide....

If you are serious, I don't know how you would convince her.
Somebody did that to my pet cow and I never did find out who. I just had to decide to believe people who had been trustworthy up to that time.

You think you know who did it, but you can't prove it.
She thinks you did it, but she can't prove it.
Even if you didn't do it, by law, you are still innocent until proven guilty and she just has to take your word for it because even she can't prove you did anything wrong.

Call the humane society to report it, or the police. You have nothing to worry about, and your friend can say her piece.

LOL!
Wait, is this real life or MASH?
Hmmm, if it WERE real life, I'd invite her over for burgers. Haha
If it's MASH, you're screwed. Unless, you take it to the Yahoo court. :-)

Wow! Well... First... I'd say that it was MY cow, and I bonded with it so... Why would I kill it? Then I'd say who you think did it... I'd like to hear more about this...
