2y=8x-2
2y/2=8x-2/2= y=4x-1

You have to tell us what type of problem this is, what you're solving for, etc..
Those variables can be anything.
Are you sure this doesn't have another part to it? Is it a system of equations that you forgot the second part to? Is it a linear equation?
