Change x into -x.If f(x) does not change the function is even
as x^4-6x^2-6
If f(-x) =-f(x) the function is odd as the last one

it is odd if the ending directions of the lines are in opposite directions and it is even if the ending directions of the lines are in the same direction. It is determined by which power th function is raised to. The 1st one is odd because the end direction is the same. The 2nd one is odd because the end behavior is in opposite directions.
