Rock today isn't as bad as you think, it's not the same as the 60's and 70's but it's not all MCR

Foo Fighters, Nirvana, The Killers, Three Days Grace, and Radiohead.

Sure, I guess The Killers have their own way to make music and that it's a bit... different from regular rock and roll, but it's still better than most of what's on the market these days.

I really don't think that Rock actually went into a coma, but since there are the Death Metal bands and then the "Rapcore" crackheads that seem to be under the rock category, it could be possible. Most of the music out there is better than average.

If you're waiting for the classical rock days to come back, it's not. Plain and simple as that.

There are a lot of bands out there that are mainstream on hold or in retirement. Bands such as the police that have got back to do some gigs and maybe make some new tracks. All members have progressed in their own ways and all are professional in their ways. However, the police is just one example. Roxy Music have tried several times to make a come back..though the solo efforts of each player overshadow their paths and thus they go back into hiding. Its a game of hide and seek as such. The Go-go's had a good run and solo most members made a great impression. The New York Dolls and revivals of such bands is making a huge dent in the rock scene. In my view these bands are good in their own way - the newer technology and re-recording of their back catalogue is a good motif for getting together again. There are other bands that carry on regardless of what the public sees or wants. These are mainly singer-songerwriters who have a career to develop and an upstanding of those values. Famous band members either become session musicians once again or prefer to take on a more presidential role as in producing. The music industry is indeed in a lull right now as regards to rock music - but it aint dead - it is there as it always will be. Todays bands try to incorperate the motives of making a quick buck and hopefully the trend setting that goes with it. This is one of the reasons I dislike the commercially promoted bands as its not a creative sense of music making - its not innovative, its done in order to push something along that is called the economy. Which is a great step from just fiddling about trying to make an original piece of music to they way you like it,isn't it? The 70's bands had a thing about creativity, songs contained the real messages took things that way and ended in the punk invasion which is a mere side-step from what was happening at the time. If God believes in rock n roll then surely someone will have the decency to come up with something really original and with a definate message. I haven't mentioned my favorite bands as I know they will not like to come back to such commercialism..they use real drums and real instruments.

Real rock NEVER went into a coma in the first place. That is unless you are waiting for the next Cat Stevens who clearly wasn't rock at all. Folk music, perhaps.

BuzzKill - Remember a couple weeks ago when that silly rumor about Ian was floating around? It was a deliberate call to get him out of hibernation.

Bang Camaro, based out of Boston. Check them out they are current, but play with old classic ACDC style rock taste. Great band.

And a lot of bands that say they are rock are ruining the image or true rock these days. Like Fall Out Boy, The Used, bands that should be labeled "emo". But i dont like labeling music because its not a big deal so, not that important.

hold on....when you refer to REAL rock music, what exactly are you refering to? I'm hoping you mean Zep, Aerosmith, Queen.....you know, stuff like that. If you're hoping that a new band will show up and sound like them, then you're praying on def ears amigo. Music is (sadly) corporate now. That's why "mainstream" rock is kinda corny these days.

But if you're talking about bands revieving rock through the skill of their craft, then I guess you're just not listening to enough music outside of your radio to and from work....or on your way to McDonald's....or where ever you're going.
