Also, will this help drive the price of oil over $100 per barrel since OPEC sets the price of oil on the US dollar?

andy g (below) It is beyond evident that you refuse to hold Bush or any neo-con accountable for any action or words they utter.
You have not responded to the fact that Bush is requesting the money in the first place.

If Bush would quit borrowing to pay for the endless war, the dollar would rise against the Euro.
With a 9 trillion dollar national debt, The Bush Regime needs to get with reality.
As for oil prices, it will continue to rise...that's what happened when you elect a Texas oilman to the White House.

Well, the last Iraq spending bill was over twice that (95 billion), in May, and the euro has gained about 7 cents since then. So, maybe, if you attribute the change entirely and exclusively to the debt-financing of that 95 billioin, and assume something similar this time, the dollar might slide another 3 or 4 cents vs the euro.

As a devil's advocate:
But that money can save lives. It can pay for armor, food, medical supplies, etc. And maybe help Iraq stand by itself.

Congress has to approve it. Complain to them. I had rather feed our troupes than feed the ones on generational welfare.
