i went through that at 5 and a half weeks and thought i was going to lose my baby but i am now 11.5 weeks and have had more bleeding since but the doctor assured me that everything is going just fine. Some women just bleed sometimes without an explanation. I hope everything turns out the same for you. But definitely tell the doctor ok because it could be more serious. Just try and relax until you get to the doc ok sorry i couldn't help you more

Not necessarily. The hard thing about pregnancy is something can mean everything, or nothing.
If the bleeding is light, it is probably just spotting most likely nothing to worry about, unless it is accompanied by cramping or a stomach ache. But even then, and this is where it can be hard to know, it can mean nothing.
If your bleeding gets heavier or cramping/stomach pain ensues, that is more worrisome, and you should probably see a doctor. Though there is honestly very little they can do, it can at least give you peace of mind to know what is going on.
If the bleeding is heavy, (though it may be a little soon for you at five weeks), it can also signify placenta previa, which is where the placenta covers in part or fully the cervix, and it is a condition that needs careful monitoring by your doctor, as well as ceasation of sex and exercise/strenuous activities. It can be id'ed easily by an ultrasound. (Fret not, this condition can often fix itself in time.)
Either way, if you are miscarrying, most likely you will soon know, as the bleeding will be fairly heavy and depending on how far along you are, there may be more clots/clumps than usual.
I wish you the best, and take care.
Good luck!

Its really hard to say for sure...it possibly could be the start of a miscarriage or it could just be a discharge. I've had 2 miscarriages the first one at 8 weeks I started bleeding real bad with out warning and the 2nd one at 14 weeks I had a brown discharge one day and started hemorraging the next day and ended up having to have a D&E to remove the fetus. I wish you the best!

I was 4 weeks pregnent when I started bleeding heavy with lots of clots. I took a pregnancy test the second day into the bleeding (i bled for 5 days) and it came back negative. My doctor said it was a chemical miscarriage/ pregnancy and that is happens to about 30-40% of all pregnancies. I am not saying this is what is happening to you, I just wanted you to know my experience.

When I was 7 weeks I started bleeding. I went to the ER and they did an ultrasound and said there was still a heartbeat and to go home and come back if it got worse. The next day I ended up leaving work because I was bleeding so much and I ended up losing the baby. The drs said the ones from the night before couldn't have heard a heartbeat because he baby was too small to have one. It was very tough. Good luck to you, I don't wish a miscarriage on my worst enemy.

bleeding can be normal. I just read a book last night about pregnancy and a women said with all 3 pregnancies she had bleeding. She said as long as it is not bad cramps, clots, or bright red blood even though her blood was bright red, and not to fill more than 2 pads. She didn't say as long but I would think all together with the pads! I would say you are going to be just fine as long is it doesn't get worse and keep getting worse! good luck!

around 6 weeks with this pregnancy, I had heavy gushes of brown discharge...after being rushed in for an emergency ultra sound, they found nothing, and told me it was just my bodies way of getting rid of old blood....apparently around the 6 week mark there are a lot of women who experience bleeding either brown or red..and most of the time they are perfectly fine...it's good that your getting into the doctors right away...just to make sure everything is fine...but i wouldn't worry to much...at least not unless they find something.

Sounds to me like implantation bleeding. That happens when the fertilized egg implants itself on the wall of the uterus. Its completely normal. Lets hope this is the case with you. A miscarrige somtimes involves heavier bleeding and cramping. I'm glad you are going to the Dr.
Let me know how your appointment turns out.
