El Aguila, aka Alejandro Montoya. First appearance in Power Man & Iron Fist (marvel comic) #58, 1977.
He is a Spanish swordsman with the mutant ability to throw lightning when he is holding onto a conductor that will act as a sort of aiming and targeting device. He is also good with the sword when using it just as a sword.

Also, Superman has two swords. (Not that he ever uses them or needs them.)
The first one he got in an early story where a criminal scientist found some metal that was blasted away from Krypton in an explosion prior to the destruction of the planet. A special Kryptonian welding kit was withit, so he built a robot to look like a knight in armor to challence Superman to a duel. Since it was Kryptonian, it was stronger than Superman! But Superman figured a way to deactivate it and tracked the bad guy to his hideout. He disassembled the robot, but kept the sword as a souvenir for his Fortress. So he still has it and could use it if his powers ever ran out. (I would love to see a story like that!)

The sword is some sort of cosmic matter accidentally in the shape of a sword, it comes to help Superman is his hour of direst need. You can read this story for free on line.

Dante from devil may cry, certain versions of night crawler from x-men, there are innumerable amounts of anime heroes that use swords, also any superhero from medieval times would have a sword, Arthur and the knights of the round table are superheroes in their own right and lastly I have a sword, actually I have two, so people who carry swords are not uncommon, especially in science fiction and fantasy.
