Most of the current external hard drives on the market are plug and play. These will come with an installation disk which will prompt you when you insert the disk into your computer. Very simple and straightforward, nothing should keep you from using and enjoying any model you can purchase at your generic computer/electronic supply shop.
After Installation, you will either have a hard drive that stays on 24/7 or one you will have to turn on. This should not be difficult and if you need to turn on the unit do so AFTER your computer has booted up.

For XP & Vista just plug it in. For earlier operating systems you may need to run installation software.

Hi Hot, I don't know anything about the inner parts or outer parts. I just know how to use a computer.
