It is just dried blood that is causing the black look under the nail. As your nail grows the black colour will grow out however it can take up to a year for this to happen. If its not sore I wouldnt worry about it, if you are worried because of your diabetes (you are young and you still have feeling in your toes so I wouldnt getting stressed out about it) then get it checked out by a podiatrist but its normal for it to be black.

The blackness will be dried blood under the nail and can take up to a year to grow out. Don't pick at i though cos you could cause an infection. When you go for your next annual diabetic foot check ask the chiropodist if there is anything to worry about. If you are really concerned go and see your practise nurse or GP. They would be able to look at it and reassure you.

A new toe nail will grow in time. As it does, it will lift the black one off quite painlessly.

just keep an eye on it, if you get any redness or pain go to your doctor. But it can take up to a year for that to grow out.

Don't worry. I know loads of people with toenails like that. If you're really desperate to get rid of it, you could cut it off. Or you could just paint it a really nice colour!
