Mac Computers?

Question

I'm thinking about getting a Mac computer, because I heard they don't crash.
I have a HP computer right now. With even with my virus protection I have on my Hp, and every so often when my child gets codes for games or myspace we get some type of virus.
Will I have this problem with a Mac?

That depends on whether you stick to the Mac OS, or decide to use Apple's Boot Camp to run Windows in dual boot mode with the Mac. When dual booting, if you boot into Windows, you render the system susceptible to the same problems a PC can run into.

The solution I prefer for this is to run Windows in a program Window on the Mac, using a virtualization program. For the Mac, there are two - Parallels Desktop, and VMWare Fusion. Using one of these, if you get a virus in a virtual machine, you simply delete that virtual machine and create another one.

Macs do Crash, they are very unreliable and overheat a lot. Stick with your HP machine, If you do want to get a new computer get one with Vista and put the Parental Controls into use.

No one bothers to create viruses for Macs, there are a few but compared to Windows..Mac has none. Oh great free software that prevents viruses from being active is Avast Antivirus

Welcome to Mac
No viruses and they run Windows.
heaps of great software including iWork 08 which works with MS Office as well as iLife08

Macs don't get viruses because it is too difficult to write one that will actually work effectively on OS X.

the reason people have less problems with mac is because people dont use macs much. thus there is less hacking and viruses that effect it. but i hate mac with a flaming passion. i love linux though

Of course. Viruses and crashing can happen to any computer.
