Contact your local County Assessor's office. They often keep records of various houses in the area. You can also look it up online by name, if you know what the name of the house or the families that lived there. The Historical Society may have some information, but usually only if it's over 100 years old. Also, the realtor you purchased the house from may be able to help you. They can often look up housing prices and sizes form more then the last decade. They will also be able to tell you who owned it previously. After you find out previous owners, you will need to find those owners and see if they will talk to you. That is usually how people find out info on the properties they buy.

Hope this helps.

In Michigan, we have our Sellers fill out what is called a "sellers disclosure" . The Seller is suppose to answer a questionaire about the History of the Home. As a Buyer, you read it, sign it, and present an offer. Also, we have "home inspections" did you get an inspection when your offer was accepted? The chain of title will only tell you who has all owned the home. Good Luck! Susan

Unless your house had or has some significant historic value, you can only ask previous owners and long-time neighbors about it. There are no histories of houses maintained in any sort of database.

Start with your local Historical Society. Especially if it is an older house. They may have some information for you.
