Why didn't Bill Clinton do anything to prevent 9/11?

- In Feb1993, the World Trade Center was bombed by Muslim fanatics, killing five people and injuring hundreds.
- In Oct1993, 18 American troops were killed in a firefight in Somalia. The body of one American was dragged through the streets of Mogadishu as the Somalian hordes cheered.
- In Nov 1995, five Americans were killed and 30 wounded by a car bomb in Saudi Arabia set by Muslim extremists.
- In June 1996, a U.S. Air Force complex in Saudi Arabia was bombed by Muslim extremists.
- In Nov 1997, Iraq refused to allow U.N. weapons inspections to do their jobs and threatened to shoot down a U.S. U-2 spy plane.
- In Aug 1998, U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by Muslim extremists.
- In Aug 20, Monica Lewinsky appeared for the 2nd time to testify before the grand jury. Clinton responded by bombing Afghanistan and Sudan, severely damaging a camel and an aspirin factory. A catastrophic failure.
- In Oct 2000, our warship, the USS Cole, was attacked by Muslims.

All of this happened under Bill Clinton's watch, and time after time he did NOTHING!!

Thank you so much! Everybody would love to blame Bush for all of this but the White House was already a mess and the attacks had been a long time coming. Clinton was a moron just imagine what his wife will do if shes elected?

The perpetrators of the 1993 WTC bombing are serving prison sentences. Several of the other things you mentioned were not retaliated against in great measure because of the Republican congress. No matter what Clinton did after the Monica episode hit the fan, it was only used against him. Damned if he did and damned if he didn't. Clinton only had 3 months left in his term when the Cole incident happened. What did Bush do about it?

Clinton didn't consider declaring war on a few hundred renegades. His approach was in hunting them down and bombing their training camps. What did Reagan do when over 200 of our troops were killed in Lebanon? The Republican congress did an about face on terrorism after 911.

June 16, 2001: Major Simulated Terrorist Attack Exercise is Held in Pennsylvania A major training exercise based upon a simulated terrorist attack is held in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, which neighbors Somerset County where Flight 93 crashes on 9/11.
So you see, Clinton & bush dropped the ball on this.

Actually, Clinton knew Osama Bin Laden was behind some of these attacks & he ordered a massive cruise missile attack on Tora Bora, where Bin Laden was believed to be at the time.

Unfortuately for us, Bin Laden escaped.

So Clinton did try. Maybe he should have tried more but that's a matter of opinion.

For all the minions on here that believe Clinton had nothing to do with being slack on the threat of terrorism during his watch ; why do you suppose he would send his former "National Security Adviser" , Sandy "Burglar" Berger sneaking into the National Archives and stealing and destroying 9 / 11 records and depositions from the 9 /11 Commission investigations` of Clinton`s policy on terrorism ? Why would Sandy "Burglar" stuff top secret documents about Bill Clinton into his pants and socks , and later hide them , lose them & destroy them ? One surely would not want to destroy secret documents that would validate Clinton`s hard line against the terrorist threats he was facing as President ? WHY WOULD YOU STEAL SECRET DOCUMENTS FROM THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES , UNLESS YOU DIDN`T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW THE TRUTH ? ...BTW... You blame Bill Clinton for the attacks on Sept 11, 2001, 9 months after he left office. Even though George W bush had no intel briefings about terrorism that 9 months and in fact Bush was on vacation in Texas for more than half that time. Yet somehow Bill Clinton didn't thwart the dastardly villians.

You also blame him for the original attacks on the WTC in Feb 1993, 39 DAYS after George HW Bush left office. Why doesn't Bush Sr get the blame for these attacks?

Fact is, the attacks on Sept 11, 2001, happened on George W. Bush's watch, he failed in his oath of office, to protect the citizens of the United States. His negligence can either be considered criminal or just plain incompetence, but he is the one who must take the responsibility for these failures on those narrow little shoulders of his.

Clinton was too busy rubbing shoulders with the celebs. He said he was going to leave the troubles up to the next president and he did! If Bush had went after Bin Ladin before 911 he would have been accused of the same thing as he is now of going to Iraq for no good reason. Clinton was very poor on securing homeland security but was real good at fooling the public. No credit has been given to Bush for America not being hit since 911.

He did, he warned President Bush and the new administration. It was their choice to ignore him and concentrate on a way to invade Iraq.
