actually technically your wrist will be STRONGER than it was before.

when a bone heals, it doesnt heal absotely perfectly together... i dont know how to explain it. its like.... uhm this is just like the most random analogy every.

but its like taking a piece of pipe and cutting it in half. it is meant to fit together, they are the exACT same width where the cut is. then you stretch out a balloon or something and put it over one piece, then move the other piece and put it up against it. so the 2 pieces fit back together perfectly, but now there is this layer of stuff around it, reinforcing it, and therefore making it stronger.

like i said, i know thats a stupid analogy, but its all i could think of :D and i know a balloon wouldnt realy add any reinforcement. but what ever the **** is in your wrist, will add some reinforcement.

cheers

I was in the same boat just 11 days ago, I can tell you from my experience so far.....

Take it easy BUT don't baby your wrist, try to use it best you can, it will be very weak and stiff (mine still is), try to exercise it by squeezing putty and moving the joint in as many directions as you can, doing this underwater hurts a lot less and you will gain more from it. I can't tell you how long until it's back to normal because I am still trying to figure that one out for myself, I hear 3 months but I'm not certain.

I was very wary at first but it got to a point where I just thought if I don't start using it now I never will, you are not at risk of breaking it unless you have another accident or do things you know you shouldn't, e.g. going on roller-coasters,

good luck and I hope this has helped

Just treat it carefully. Don't go off and do something stupid. (Flinging the wrist around and smashing it against a wall = Stupid).

Be cautious. Besides, don't worry - I'm sure many people have this fear, but doctors take off casts when your bones are fully healed - It'll be like before you even got the cast.

You have nothing to worry about. :-)
