Say a woman is taking birth control pills but gets pregnant. If she didn't know it and kept taking the pills, what would happen? I have always heard that the pill is very effective but, what if it didn't work because of missed pills, medication, etc... Would she continue to be pregnant, have a miscarriage, or might the baby have complications?

When I was 38 years old, our children were 18, 15, and 12. I had been taking birth control pills successfully for 11 years. I never gave it much thought, but I developed some pain in my stomach whenever I ate and also started having heartburn, which I had never had before. At my yearly physical, I talked to my doctor about these things and she thought I might have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. But, during my pelvic exam she was mystified to find my cervix felt pregnant. I had not felt pregnant and was having periods even though the one just before my appointment had been a little lighter and shorter than normal. Just to "rule it out" she sent me to pee in a cup for a pregnancy test. While we waited for the results, she explained that numerous things can affect the feel of the cervix so we'd do some tests to see what was going on. In a whirlwind of events, the pregnancy test came back positive, we heard the heartbeat, and an ultrasound showed I was 17 weeks along! Everyone, including my doctor, was stunned, and no one more than me who never believed a woman could be pregnant without knowing it! (Be careful about what you think you know, sometimes it comes back to bite you.) I was terribly concerned and upset because I had been taking my birth control pills without fail the whole time I was pregnant. My doctor assured me there was no danger in taking the Pill while pregnant, but it obviously was no longer needed so I should stop taking it. She said no studies have shown adverse affects to mom or baby, but excessive estrogen (which is present in BC pills) has some link to cancer development so while the risk is minimal, it is recommended not to take the Pill as soon as you know you are pregnant. Birth control pills are highly effective, but even when taken correctly they are not 100 % guaranteed to prevent pregnancy. I had not missed a pill (after 11 years, taking them every day at the same time was just like breathing to me), I had not been on any medication known to interfere with the Pill's effectivness, nor had I been sick with vomiting or diarrhea which may have taken the Pill out of my system before it went to work. Because birth control pills work by surpressing ovulation, all the nurses and doctors I told my story to were just amazed that my ovaries managed to have released an egg after so many years of pill usage. While she was not planned and was a total surprise to us, we just couldn't imagine our family any other way than with her in it. By the way, after our little surprise was born, my husband had a vasectomy. We weren't taking any chances with my luck and birth control any more. Taking the Pill while unknowingly pregnant will not cause a miscarriage and will not affect the baby in any way.

In an excessively superb international, that might be a well proposal. I'm assuming the one cause might be to get rid of teenage being pregnant. If that was once viable of being powerful, unobtrusive, detachable, loose, painless, and so on. then it might make plenty of feel. It might, nevertheless, shrink the fear of fitting pregnant, for that reason potentially growing adolescent sexual pastime, which involves danger of STDs. There's additionally the truth to don't forget that we don't seem to be even competent of constructing toddlers till puberty, so all that point (virtually thirteen years often) with "whatever" in position to restrict being pregnant, is quite pointless. In that point, headaches would broaden, or it would develop into your frame, and be unattainable to take away. It might take plenty of study to quite reply this question, however an fascinating proposal. I had an after notion! This might be a gorgeous proposal if you happen to needed to PASS A TEST earlier than it would be eliminated!! Men and females alike!! Wouldn't that be gorgeous?? You have got to actually move a scan earlier than you'll be able to procreate!! sure!

Yes, there might be complications or a miscarriage.

The high dosage of hormones is not good for the developing baby.

However, many women have conceived while on the pill and gone on to have healthy babies.
