Hi all. Could somebody please recommend at least one really good RPG for me to rent/buy? Games that focus more on a story rather than pathetic games like Halo, BioShock, or Metroid Prime? Specifically for the 3 main consoles and while it's a long shot with JRPGs, multiple endings/non linear? The ones I've already played and am looking for similar games are

Final Fantasy X
Arc The Lad:Twilight Of The Spirits
Zelda Ocarina of Time
Indigo Prophecy
Onimusha 3: Demon Siege
Xenosaga

Don't bother to suggest Dragon Quest 8 or Kingdom Hearts, both are as bad as Halo.

I'd just like to add I didn't mean to offend any fans of Halo and the like, just 1 gamers opinion. To each their own.

VooDoo:
Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I'm well aware that Halo and BioShock are not RPGs. I'm just saying that games similar to them suck compared to RPGs.

And what is wrong with the Kingdom Hearts series? I say go with Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2.

Here are a few suggestions:

Star Ocean: Til the end of Time (PS2)
-Multiple segmented endings based on characters' relationships.
-Mildly Linear

Persona 3 (PS2)(I haven't finished it)
-I don't know how many main endings, but there is a 'take this choice and end' ending
-One main path with MANY ways of getting there.

Tales of Symphonia (GC)
-Segmented ending based on character relationship
-Parts of the game play like a checklist, as long as you do all of the stops, order doesn't matter.

Diseaga 1 & 2 (PS2) (The first has a better story IMO.)
-Strategy RPG
-Multiple endings. With New Game+ many endings are like the ones in Chrono Trigger.
-The story line is very linear, but very good.

Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria (PS2)(Haven't finished)
-Likely to have multiple endings
-Divided into chapters, each chapter has a number of required things, and a greater number of optional things. The order in which you do them does not mater.

Halo and BioShock are not RPGs so i dont know where your getting that from...
and the 3 main consoles, define which ones that would be..
for 360?
a really fun one is overlord, and its a pretty cool story, one of a kind.
the best rpg imo is any elderscrolls, preferably oblivion.
next time be more specific so i can help more.

oooo, and that guy who said "im a hxc gamer"

The whole of the final fantasy series is really good, but if your looking for an outstanding RPG I would have to say Final fantasy VII although it is on PS1. There is also Final fantasy XII on PS2 that was really good, but does contain alot of political jargon and was sometimes hard to keep ahold of the story line but non the less was a really good game. Do you have a PS3? If so for that one I would definitely recommend enchanted arms great storyline so far and very different battle system. It really depends on your personal preference but I do hope that these give you a few ideas.

Two games that I know that have a fantastic story are Dream: The Longest Journey, and The Longest Journey. Also, if you don't mind any open ended RPGs, there's always Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.

Check out Star Ocean - Til the End of Time. It has an epic storyline, and multiple endings depending upon your interactions between different characters.
