Tell them this:

I personally own a wii, and have all the online functions. The News channel, weather channel and the shopping channel have no communications with any 'strangers'. The Internet channel is basically the Internet on your home computer. They let you on that don't they? Finally, the only way you can contact 'strangers' is if you tell someone your wii number, then you add their number too. Both people need each others wii numbers in order to contact each other, otherwise absolutely nothing happens. The only information that is given out by the wii is it's own unique number, like a bar code.

I can reassure you and your parents that I, and neither have any of my friends have had any unwanted contact from anyone. Also, your parents can check the friend code book to see who's wii numbers you have.

Using the Wii online isn't all that great. Yeah it is cool to be able to surf the web through a game system and all but it is really tiring having to type one letter at a time with the Wii-mote. Plus, if the page takes up too much memory it will reload a few times or just go back to the start page. This is really irritating.

If you are talking about it for the games, there aren't that many games that you can do this on anyway. Although, Smash bros. is going to be awesome!

I guess I would tell your parents that when you are playing with someone online you aren't going to be telling them what street you live on and in what room. You are going to be talking about the game and what tactics to use. Plus, from what I've read you can't even "talk" through the games. In Smash bros. they are going to make it so while you are playing you have 4 set things that will pop up over your character.

Hope this helps and I hope you get it!

Tell them you are a mature young man and understand the danger and they are welcome to look at anything you do online.
It isn't that they don't trust you, they don't trust the people who are trying to hunt you down and kill you.
