Having worked at The Symphony on many occasions I would Say Broad Street,New Street and Hurst Street Are the places to Party!
Food can be Great(Depends where you go)!
The Curry Mile on Stoney Lane is a Wonderful place to eat!
Birmingham on the whole is a Great Place-Unfortunately like most places in the UK it is Becoming More & More Alcholol Fuelled!

I've been there several times although I'm biased because my husband was born and raised there.
There is certainly lots to do--aquarium, symphony, NEC events, lots of shopping downtown.

Go to Broad st and party, but watch out for the gay bars, you don't want to walk into one and not know where in the hell you are.( Speaking on experience)
