My late gf was always treated with disdain by a nurse/receptionist when visiting a certain doctor, a nephrologist. The two ladies obviously did not like each other. But one day my gf who is also a nurse saw that the other lady was not feeling good and offered her own medical advice and a small amount of comfort. The other lady was so taken aback that from that time on when my gf would visit this doctor the nurse/receptionist would treat her better than any other patient. In this case, a little kindness worked a miracle.
