Why is everyone saying the yankees should trade Wang, kennedy,, or hughes, and melky for santana

1. santana is freee agent next year
2. theyre getting rid of three good quality players
3. They are not like they arescoring 50 runs each game, they do need pitching, but just get someone else, johan hasnt proven himself in playoffs

thanks-bcogehrig4

I have not heard about this trade and although I believe Santana is the best pitcher in baseball I would not do a trade like this if I were the Yankees. Two excellent young pitchers and two established big league players for Santana is too much. If I were the Yankees I would try to keep A-Rod, Rivera, and Posada and keep their good young pitchers and build the team from that baseline. The Yankees will have another contending team next year and they really don't need to make any major changes to have a winner.

I'm not a Yankee fan but I wouldn't make the trade. Just face facts that after 12 straight years in the post-season, the Yanks will have to go through some rebuilding. I think they should wait and see if these guys (Kennedy, Hughes & Chamberlain) turn into studs.

Johnny Z-- I think you mean Kazmir of the Rays.

Friday i heard the Mets and the Yankees are gonna go hard after Santana! Clemens will be gone,i'm not sure if Pettitte will go i hope not! Wang just plain sucked! And not just in the playoffs he fell apart in Sept! so i really don't care where he goes, but Santana is a free agent,we don't have to trade anyone for him!

1. They would extend his contract before the deal
2. Wang was terrible in the playoffs. Kennedy and Hughes are unproven and there are much better CF's out there.
3. Santana is the closest thing to a sure thing and is the front line starter the Yanks have needed for many years now.

I am more worried that Girardi gets the managerial gig and he cooks the young arms in 2008 like he did with the Marlins. The Yankees will not make a deal for Santana and Minnesota would balk at getting that many major league players they would need to pay at NY salaries.

Why? Because they're stupid. The one thing the Yankees don't need to do it get rid of their young pitching. Wang, Hughes and Kennedy are the foundation of a good rotation for years to come.

Only a idiot would trade players who can dominate as the next major generation of Yankees for the next 15-20 years for a guy who may be only on a team for one!

Very weird.

I would have the Steinys sign Santana, let Mussina go(trade him to Kansas City).Trade Abreu or Giambi(get another starter that is really dependable is what I'm saying) How about Giambi and Mussina for Scott Shields of Tampa--wow what pitching staff that would be!)

There not going to trade 3 quality pitchers and great center fielder for a free agent. First of all, he's a free agent...you can't trade for him. Second of all, if they want they can sign. They can certainly afford him that's for sure.

To the guy above me who said that Wang was terrible in the playoffs, the whole team stunk. Bad. You can't blame it all on one guy. And Melky is a very good center fielder. The only reason I would pursue a better center fielder is if A-Rod leaves then I'd go after Andruw Jones to fill in that big bat hole.
