Get out a globe and measure the distance to each...not hard at all. Or look at the latitude of it to determine it roughly.

Madison is at latitude 43 degrees north. The equator is at zero, and the pole is at 90. So halfway would be 45 degrees. Since Madison is at 43, it's a little less than halfway, and is closer to the equator.
