Too early to carve. Wait until just a day or two before Halloween and keep them in a cool place.

We usually carve the pumpkin one week before halloween, emptying it and scraping the interior before carving. Ours usually last until Thanksgiving and are a wonderful way to introduce your children to candlelight dinners with an emphasis on fun!

carve it the day before halloween and stick the pumpkin outside in the cold moist, do not carve it now because it will start rotting after 5 days

A week or two then the mold starts, if there is no mold some kind of nasty chemical might of been used as a pesticide, It depends on your climate as to how long it will last. For example if you live in the desert then it may just dry out and not mold at all.

When carving it cut it open from the bottom instead of the top. It helps it last longer by letting the dew get into it when the dew rises in the morning.

It will last approx. 2 weeks. To make it last longer, you can coat the inside of the pumpkin with a thick layer of lemon juice and it will last about a month after doing that. Hope this helps. :) (You will need to completely cover the inside of the pumpkin with lemon juice for it to work.)
