She is only 5 1/2 months old and this is early for any baby. I dont want her to hurt herself or cause damage to her legs. she can pull herself up, crawl. and sit up great. I have never heard of a baby walking this early. so should i stop her?

You don't sound like an overprotective mother...maybe concerned and there is nothing wrong with that. Every child develops at a different rate. A baby is going to fall when they first learn how to walk. It is an important part of thier development. My daughter took her first steps when she was aobut 5.5 months and was fully walking by the time she was 6.2 months.
If you try to stop your baby from walking I would only assume that it could cause more problems, than help. I say let her do it, and trial and error.
Good Luck with everything, and congrats on everything.

No I don't think you should stop her. My baby isn't walking yet but I have been exercising her legs since she was 2 months old. I would make her stand on them when I would pick her up from a diaper change. My baby could probably walk now but she is scared and there is nothing wrong with her legs. All babies do things at different times. Some hit these milestones before others. For example; I know babies that have walked at 7 or 8 months and others don't until they are 18 months. So it depends on the baby. I think your baby will be fine. Good Luck gurl!

It's not that unusual for a baby that young to try to walk. She probably is imitating you older child, which isn't a bad thing. (Most of the time. LOL) Let her do what she tries; just be near-by in case she does fall. She's going to get hurt; there's no way around that. My son just turned 4 and we've been to the ER already from running, tripping, and banging into the corner of a wall. Encourage and support her in what she tries and comfort her when she falls. She'll be OK.

Developmentally, that's what babies do. They sit up, then crawl, then pull up and then walk. She's doing everything the way it's done, just really early. She's precocious. Very coordinated.
The only reason I can see that she shouldn't learn to walk is that she's going to be getting into things and you'll have to chase her. And that's not right to stop her because of yourself; it will frustrate her no end, because SHE'S READY!
Every kid falls and hurts themselves walking the first weeks. Will it damage her legs? No. Any busy little girl can't weigh much--say, 12 lbs. or so? She'll be fine.
I'm sorry you missed so much of the baby-ness of your daughter's childhood. She's a go-getter. And being precocious and a go-getter and an eager beaver are all very good traits for an adult to have, so you should foster them.
Take care!

Every little or big person is different, Our body is maybe the most complicated thing to understand but God give us the best machine all we have to do is learn from our own how? All you have to do (if you have the time) is to keep on eye 24/7 with your baby and let her be she needs space and if you add some taking in a nice voice she'll be learning how to take care of her own falls or any other hurt (cause that its going to happened sooner or later, but is necessary to grow

Heck no! If she has the capability to being walking at this age you should encourage her. All children are different, and though this is a bit early for a child to begin walking, that doesn't mean she isn't capable of doing so.
I was talking at 9 months, which is early for that, as well. Mind you, I really haven't shut up since. . .lol.

No don't stop her, babies walk when they are ready. My first was 5 months when she was pulling herself up. She was 61/2 months when she was walking along furniture. At nine months she was walking and a week later running. Babies will walk when they feel they are ready. Donl't try and stop her. Let her do what she feels is right for her.

I admit to knocking down my babies when they were learning to walk. I got the idea from a burnt-out mother of five. You can't stop her from practicing her walking, but you don't have to encourage it.
Your child will not injure herself from walking too early as long as she is the one to initiate it. At this age, she's so close to the ground and her center of gravity is so low that falling all day won't hurt her.

No dear do not stop the child. It has been proven that some babies are faster that some. so it is quit normal for your child to start walking at that age. However make sure that there are no dangerous objects around the house to harm or hurt her ok.

I think it is great that she is developing the characteristic of independence. You should not stop her. How would you? You should spot her as she is waling. Chances are if she is already wanting to walk at 5 1/2 months she'll get the hang of it in no time!
good luck
