Yes - our National Team is weakened - but our premier league is enhanced week in and week out with the foreign talent we have playing here. This means our young home grown talent doesn't get the experience of 1st team places every week. However our under 21 team should be quite good - I don't follow the under 21s enough to know if this is true. Understandably when a club pays millions for a player from abroad they want them out there on the pitch.

NO. Although there has always been a steady amount of non English players, the massive amount of foreigners has only really happened in the last 15 - 20 years (especially since sky have put all the money into English football). England haven't won anything in the last 40 years. So there were at least 20 years when we had mostly home grown players, after we won the world cup, and still won nothing( failing to qualify for world cup and euro championships along the way). In fact, we've come nearer to winning something in the last last few championships (going out on penalties, in semi-finals), than we did when most of our top divisions players were home grown.

Well, I'm sure I'll get thumbs down for this, but this is the truth.
Face it, England are a second-rate team. Yes, we may have the best league in the world, but our own national team is over-rated. The expectations are unreal. All because we have such a big league.
How much cash was splashed for English players in the record spending this summer? We have English players in the Premiership, but they look so good because they are in the same team as their better overseas counterparts. It is the good performance of the foreign players that makes English players in the same look good. Our own stars are not good enough. How many Englishmen do you find in Liverpool or Arsenal that are in the national team? Only Gerrard. Yet, they are among the finest teams in the country.
Add that to the fact that we have a tactically poor manager who cannot motivate the players well enough for the big stage. No wonder Euro 2008 qualifying is out of our hands.
The fact that Steve Mac keeps choosing media darlings for the team is bugging me. You pick players to win, not to keep the media happy.
I'll be praying for Israel to beat Russia and England to beat Croatia at Wembley. But we really need a better manager. The FA should approach Fabio Capello or someone with the caliber of Scholari or Mourinho. Aren't we all forgetting a certain guy called Jurgen Klinsmann? Remember who he is?
He was a guy who didn't care two hoots about the media. he made himself very unpopular for picking players the media didn't like. Look where that took him in the FIFA World Cup.
The FA should also impose a barrier like the La Liga, allowing only a certain number of non-EU or foreign players. The Premiership teams must have a bare minimum of 11 English players. Only then will true potential come to light.

Where goes the old saying 'iron sharpeneth iron'. France won the world and euro cups with a deluge of foreigners in their league. Until recently Spain had quotas but hasn't won anything of substance. If our boys are that good they would be in great demand and ply their trade at the best clubs ANYWHERE in the world. Same goes for our managers. I could remember a time when the likes of Gazza and the Guvnor played in Italy. Then there was genuine quality and England had its best chance of winning the world cup. These days, nothing. Owen, Becks and Woodgate are the latest casualties and with it the hopes of doing well internationally. The quality just isn't there.

Yes, but ONLY while the manager picks players from the top four clubs.
There is enough english talent in the premiership and championship to field three good teams, but they don't get a look in while the overrated players like Gerrard, Lampard, Robinson etc are in the frame.

People Who Subscribe To That Opinion Have Not Done
Their Homework.
Understand This One Thing.
If a player is good enough to get into his first team then he will do so regardless of his nationality.
Competition for places gives incentive to players to improve themselves.
If we were to limit the amount of foreigners playing in our leagues then our national and domestic football would suffer for doing so in the long run.

very possible. with all the foreign players, epl clubs are less focus on home-grown players. less time for them to play.
basically, there are very little choices for england team manager to select its players.
