if so ... why are they now asking for something called 'telephone amnesty'

And my question is, if they weren’t breaking the law, as Bush keeps saying they weren’t, why do they need amnesty?

The point is this...that even Murder can be legal if laws are arranged that way...There are modern loopholes and technicalities that the Constitution has not been updated to immunize against. This administration loves to rearrange and dwell in technicalities and loopholes, so that which is ethically illegal and even unconstitutional can be perfectly legal in court...and guess what kiddies they managed to get 4 supreme court justices...Justices have no term limit...and as a justice their job is to determine the constitutionality of cases as to set a standard for all the other courts...think about what this does

Because The Patriot Act passed, and was renewed. By none other than Hillary & Reid themselves. Previously there was an act in place allowing wire taping.
NONE of this is new news. Just passed from one administration to another. IN one form of so forth.

First off, wire tapping is legal and constituitonal, if you have a court order.

And the amnesty that they're asking for is for the phone companies who allow the government to tap phones. If the wire tap is found to be illegal, they want amnesty from prosecution for the phone company.

The amnesty is needed to prevent misguided people like the ACLU from filing lawsuits for people that think the Government might have been listening in on them.

I'd like to know what the big idea behind that illegal wiretapping was anyway? After all it was (is) unconstitutional meaning un-lawful meaning it would not hold up meaning be admissible in court anyway! In other words Bush's cronies could not use it against someone anyway, legally that is...

It's legal as long as you have your lackeys writing the laws. That's why Bush can also sit on TV and say with a straight face, "We don't torture". Yeah, we don't torture, because Alberto Gonzales changed the definition of torture, so by the Newspeak definition we really don't. And waterboarding isn't torture. And Bush is a Christian. And monkeys will fly out of my butt.

apples and oranges...god i wish before you liberals whine about the defense of this country youd READ THE LAW....
wiretapping involves conversations and activity with someone involved OVERSEAS...not domestically. and amnesty has nothing to do with that.

please check your facts before you post. it would save alot of time. whining is whining but at least be right about it..thanks.
