Big Sam Alardyce should get the job. Not an ex yes man to the previous manager. Sam would get the players respect and obviously he's an Englishman so the England team is where his heart is.

Nobody 'wants' the job, but I know a few who will be good for the position should Steve Mac be sacked (order does not reflect preference!):

Sam Allardyce (Best home-grown manager in my opinion)
Fabio Capello (Three back-to-back league titles, stripped of 2 of course...)
Luiz Felipe Scolari (2002 WC champion, Euro 04 finalist, FIFA WC 2006, 4th place)

and I'm sure you all forgot ...

Jurgen Klinsmann (FIFA WC 2006 third place)

Yes, you need to consult the oracle before applying. Its a matter of life and eternal ruin. I know only one ex-manager who's still kicking as far as the game is concerned. Some voodoo job.

Isn't any football manager's job a poisoned chalice within that country's media?

Or does it not count if it happens
outside of our great country that is England.

I'll take it if you're offering! It can't be that difficult - pick the same mediocre players every game, use the same mediocre tactics every game, give the same mediocre tv interview after every game, get sacked and still get paid millions until you get another job.
Yes please, I'll have some of that!

they all want it I don't know what you are on about, it wasn't a
poisoned chalice when someone of stature had it
El Tel and Robson, both did well but had bad luck.
