It is a good place to have a family and raise up your kids. It is more like a quite place to live. If you are looking for a night life place or city life this is not the place to be. We have more dry heat the highest is 88-110 during the summer. Winter time it gets cold and dry it doesnt really snow. If it does it just freezes up during Dec-Feb only happens twice a month or so. Lowest is 30's in the high 50's. If you do move to Dallas make sure you don't stay in South Dallas it is a bad area to be in. A good area is North Dallas, Los Colinas, Frisco and South Arlington. Try to look for Arlington/Ft worth area its in the middle of the Metroplex. Cost of living is very reasonable in North Dallas would be higher. In Arlington and Ft Worth is a little lower.

The suburbs are for the most part boring if you are single. Arlington and Addison being the exception to the rule.
I think the summers are hot and humid. Humidity around 80% and temperatures over 95 degrees is not comfortable. I lived there 34 years and never got used to the humidity.
Housing is dirt cheap.
Dallas ranks in the top 10 for manufacturing jobs.

The heat is usually moderately humid to bone dry depending on how long since it rained. This year we had non-stop rain through June and a cool summer with more rain. Last year we had 30 days in Aug-Sep without rain and with high temps
If by manuafacturing work you mean working on assembly lines or in job shops, I think you will find that is much less common than some other places, especially in Dallas. Just as an off-beat example - to get foundry supplies for casting metal, you have to go to Ft. Worth, they simply arn't available in Dallas. There is a GM plant in Arlington, well west, but the Ford plant in Dallas closed decades ago.

Never got used to WHAT humidity??? I lived in San Antonio and travelled often to Dallas. 95 degrees in SA with 60% humidity, and then 105 in Dallas with 20% humidity, actually felt better even with the higher temp.
Plus, there is ALWAYS a breeze in Dallas, so the heat never gets a chance to settle on you.
This year was strange. We had more rain than we can remember. For the first time in TEN years, Texas was drought-free. Already, Dallas is settling back into its usual pattern. An occasional week of temps in the 30's, happens 3 - 4 times through the winter.
I've been to every major city in America. Also been to a number of cities in other countries. First time I saw Dallas, I liked it better than anywhere else. Never lost that feeling about it.
Property values won't make you a killing in the real estate market, but they don't lose money on you either. Good values and steady, affordable. Dallas has always survived economic storms. When the contstruction boom went bust, Dallas turned to the telecom industry. When they died down, Dallas turned in the healthcare industry.
There are more company headquarters in Dallas than in any single city in the U.S. I don't know about today, but Dallas used to be the #1 convention city in the U.S. Conventions always came to Dallas.
Nightclubs, attractions, entertainment, I could go on and on, but you get the picture.

I love Dallas! More shopping per capita than any other city in the United States. Beautiful and clean. Great events, galleries, shows, concerts, etc. Beautiful people, rich heritage. However, if you are looking for manufacturing work you might check out Durant, OK which is 1 hour 45 minutes from the DFW airport. It is 15 minutes from the Oklahoma-Texas border and has a Cardinal Glass Plant and biodiesel plant and several others. Check out www.durant.org. Plus, housing taxes are much cheaper in Oklahoma than in Texas.

I merely moved right here below a month in the past from l. a.. Dallas is great by way of fact distinctive the suburbs are greater moderen and air purifier than great previous cities like L.A/Chicago etc. You get so plenty greater on your money. Plano is great all around, faculties, issues to do, captivating section! Frisco is greater moderen and not as stepped forward as Plano yet is merely remarkable. those factors are large and upscale with some selection (not all spanish/rednecks etc) i admire diversitiy myself, however the section must be upscale! stable success!
