Yes you can...it is a little known fact that, yes, as long as you have your name, address and account information, the amount, the payee and your signature any old peice of paper is a cheque.
Now...banks have their own practices and policies...they may or may not accept it. They have this right, as if they advance on the cheque and it is not honoured, they are out the money.
The security features within a cheque are there to protect the payor and the bank. Should the payor and the bank not concern themselves with the security features...such is the risk they take.
Yeesh...why do people answer questions so adamantly when they are soooo wrong.

Yes, you can.
However, getting the bank to accept it is another issue. The bank provides checks in a specific format for a reason. Writing a check on any piece of paper will not likely be accepted.
Hope this helps.

a on a similar time as returned, which could be finished, as long because it had your account form and signature on it. yet now the banks run each and every thing and could no longer take it. you're able to be waiting to bypass on your financial corporation and use your debit card there to get the money. i will at mine. you additionally can merely make a withdrawal out of your checking account and purchase a money order. besides the shown fact that, purchase the money order the place they focus on them, because of the fact your financial corporation will value an arm and a leg for it.

NO ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! checks have built in security features for this exact reason! writing a check on a piece of notebook paper would be counterfeiting a legal document and is definitely punishable by law. if anyone thinks this is acceptable, they are wrong. if it was legal, how hard would it be for criminals to "write" up a check w/ your information on it? don't be retards people

no way, checks requires a specific account number, a payor, and a payee in order for it to become negotiable. it would have been different if you intend to execute a promissory note, in that case, you can write it on any piece of paper,

No you can't do this. It has to be a paper authorized by the bank. That's why the checks are for!

Actually there is such a thing called a "counter check", i've seen a few. But they have to adhere to a particular form, so you can't just handwrite one.

Theoretically, you could, but the bank would most likely hold it and not cash it until it cleared.

Many years ago a man 'wrote' a check on the back of his shirt to pay his taxes...
the IRS cashed it.
So - maybe.

no- but it sounds like it would work in theory. No one would cash it.
