No, no clues, which is a shame. Revealing this tidbit after the fact is interesting, but it would have meant more if there had been SOME subtext within the books, themselves, to analyze. However, this news provides more insight into why Dumbledore delayed confronting Grindelwald and fighting him.
Here's a news article about this:

According to the story I read, she had told the writer of the screenplay for HBP that Dumbledore was gay because there was mention of a female love interest in the screenplay and she had to set them right. Having done that, she might as well have made it public, since it would have eventually come out anyway--she could control when and how it was done.
BTW, there is some inkling of this in DH, where Rita Skeeter talks about devoting a chapter in her book about Dumbledore to the Dumbledore/Harry relationship. This is not to say that there was anything improper--but that JKR did put out a hint.

JK Rowling says that there are clues hidden deep down in the books, but I didnt see any. I dont doubt that there are clues, its just that not many people have probably found them.
I heard that the reason that JK Rowling told people that Dumbeldore was Gay is because the person writing the script for HP 7. Wrote about Dumbledore having a crush on a girl when he was a boy. ---Not that that was really your question, just thought you might like to know.

The author herself has officially stated that Dumbledor is gay. The only part in the book that was slightly alluding to his orientation is his relationship with Grindelwald. While I don't think they ever were an actual couple, I believe Rowling said that Albus did have feelings for him. I also, personally, wondered about that guy (forgot his name) that was crying so hard at Dumbledor's funeral. But Rowling stated Albus was never seriously involved with someone after realizing how he'd let his personal feelings cloud his judgement on Grindelwald.

You didn't miss any clues throughout the books because there weren't any.
J. K. Rowling, in her attention-seeking agenda, simply made the announcement while on tour.
The gay community should be outraged instead of happy about the announcement.
Why? Because she has disrespected them to the nth degree.
Rowling knew that had she put in the books that Dumbledore was gay, the books never would have sold as well as they did. So what did she do? She keeps her mouth shuts, makes millions and millions of dollars and then outs the headmaster.
What a HYPOCRITE.
And the fact that she's trying to re-write the story lines says a lot about her ability as a writer also. The git!

Yes, he's gay. I'm looking for the clues too. His sense of dressing seems to be the most obvious one. He, by far, has been described as the best dressed wizard.

Clues:
He and Grindelwald (excuse my spelling, if it's wrong) "took to each other very quickly"
his love was his "greatest tragedy"
he never had a female love interest
he was a gentle, feminine person. (not to stereotype, but it is a possibility)
Still, he was a great person. A great character. he did good things. it shouldn't matter that he's gay.
