You know the answer to this question already. You confirm it when you drive by dead animals on the side of the road or a fallen tree or the sun rising or a field of wild flowers. Why does there need to be a point? Who is telling you that there must be a point? Find the origin of that pressure to 'find the point of life'. Therein lies the problem and the source of all the confusion.

there is no point, there is no lord. it's all random.
Imagine thousands of gnats flying around, some hit webs, some get eaten by birds, etc... some fly away long enough to mate safely. Do you think the ones that get eaten think "why me? what did i do to deserve this? what a cruel game!!". No. And neither should we. We mean the same to the universe as a gnat does

There is a point. If there is a Lord who created us, then He must have put our tremendous need for meaning into our human nature. Since only He can know the purpose for which we were born, then aren't we meant to seek Him?
And then that answers the question. Our purpose is to seek God. We come up with that independent of "And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." (Luke 11:9)

well, yes. Sometimes it does feel like God is just putting us through pain. But I believe that we're here to help others, spread the Word of God, and to make a difference.
"The good Lord gave us mountains, so we could learn how to fly"
"We live, we love, we forgive and never give up
Cuz the days we are given are gifts from above
And today we remember to live and to love"
(Lyrics from "We Live")
I greatly suggest you watch the drama of "1 litre of tears" which is based on a true story.
It changed my life.

The point to life is that there is no point. Paradox rules, chaos thrives - just try and enjoy the ride.
