Yes many..

I used free hosting for a while but came to realize that it is free for a reason. They make their money off pop ups and advertising.

If this is just a page for you then free is good... Other wise why go free when you can own your own domain name and have it hosted for 1 dollar a month.

I use the 3 dollar package because it gives you the online web builder.

BUT if you choose a dollar a month package then
godaddy.com - 8.99 a year for a domain
1 dollar a month for hosting
so your cost for a site with your own name with no pop ups is 21.00 a year

I say this because of the freebies that they offer.
Message boards, Blogs, Private pages and you do not have to know how to program.

Yes I do and I used VI (Unix text editor) to create most of it. For those not technically inclined, you can use any number of WYSIWYG editors. Some choices are CoffeeCup editor (some hosting sites give this away for free), Dreamweaver and Frontpage (now discontinued).

Most browsers also have editors built into them. There are some free ones out there as well such as Mozilla's Composer.

As usual Wikipedia has is a good source of information on the topic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML_editor

Here is a comparison of WYSIWYG browsers:

There are thousands of people have there own sites.
Again there are hundreds of different softwares used to Design, Maintain, and upkeep your site.
Many are known as. What you see is what you get.
meaning there is no codeing involved. You choose the clipart or any backround you choose and you simply add the text, size and color, These are known as FONTS, the different types of letters used.
You can get them both with and without ADDS.
I find that using Yahoo's Geocities has a full service site.
