I've often thought Travis do, they're that same sort of whiney, depressing sound.
You could say Stereophonics are quite similar, but that might be pushing it a bit.

When I was a teenager I used to go and see bands live. I loved the atmosphere and I was intrigued by the sound of electric guitars. I saw Cliff Richard and the Shadows at the London Palladium as a 6 year old. A year later my older Sister took me to Aldershot to see a band neither of us had ever heard of. It was 1962. They were called the Beatles. I can't remember any individual song...but I do remember it was loud enough to feel it through the floor! Over the following years I was lucky enough to have a family who took me to see The Kinks, The Who, The Small Faces, The Tremolos, The Mindbenders, The Pretty Things, The Rolling Stones, The Hollies, Them, The Beatles (again), Paul Simon, The Yard birds, Bob Dylan, Donovan, Joan Baez, Bob Seger, Roy Orbison, Bobby Darin and many...many more. The seventies were even more active. You may wonder why I am wasting your time answering in this way?....It is because I love music, but as we get older we get spoilt by our memories and no longer care who is best...loudest...biggest...funniest...fa... We just care that we were there...and it cannot be captured again. Whoever satisfies the need to be like Coldplay...good luck to them. I am still hearing John Lennon ripping through the Princess Hall's tiny PA speakers and blasting my 8 year old ears with authentic rock and roll brilliance.

Well for a sound of Franz Ferdinand, definitely Bloc Party's early stuff off the Silent Alarm album, however, I wouldn't compare them to coldplay.

This might sound a surprise given their original pop status but A-Ha have really changed and two albums I totally recommend are East of the Sun West of the Moon, and Analogue. You may be surprised

Nevermind bands that sound like coldplay
coldplay directly copied the music of Jeff Buckley in my view.
