if all of the tail lights work but not the license plate lamps then almost certainly the problem is with a bad ground for the license plate lamps. The word 'bad' means lose, corroded or broken. The ground for the license plate lamps is in one of two places depending on whether the car is a hatchback or a sedan. On the hatchback the ground is on the center of the back side of the rear trunk panel. You need to take the inside panel off to see the ground; it will be a cap head screw that holds a wire with an eyelet to the metal of the car.
if the car is a sedan, the ground will be under the rear package shelf in the center.
I would suggest you test for power at the socket before taking everything apart. You can use a test light to check for power on the red/black wire to the rear license plate lights. You can test for power at the socket with the bulb removed (be sure you have the headlights turned ON when you're doing the test.
if you have power at the bulb sockets then the ground is bad. If you don't have power at the light bulb sockets and the tail lamps work then you need to trace the red/black wire back to see where its broken. The odds of that being the cause are remote. Its almost certain to be on the ground side.
the problem is not with a fuse if the taillamps work; the license plate and taillamps work off the same fuse so if one works and the other doesn't then the fuse is good.
hope that helps

Use a test light to check to see if your getting power to the bulb socket if not to save you time and money pop out one of your tail lights their will two or three bulbs. if their are three turn on lights and the bulb that is lite up tap a wire from the licence plate bulb to that lite up bulb and connect it to the lite coloured wire yellow ,white, red witch ever colour you have these are your hot wire the + and your licence plat lights should light up then just use connectors and hide the wire or rap it with the rest of the wiring harness that's the best I can say I had the same problem with my Dodge Avenger and it works now

The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.
Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net that has been around since 1995.

All the marker lights would be out if it were a fuse. You messed up something or used the wrong bulbs.
