Maybe you could still help with bills by working evenings/weekends when he is home with the baby then there will be no daycare... Most offices close by 9 or 10, so you could still have an hour or so with your boyfriend before bed, and weekend nights... Or maybe you could watch a friend's child to help with money, then you can be home too! Best of luck!

That's a pretty busy and hectic time of year, and I agree you would probably much rather be at home bonding and caring for your new baby.

I would start doing what you can now to make/save extra money. Perhaps your boyfriend could take a part-time job, or you could find some work to do just on the weekends, or at home after the baby comes.

I work from home making jewelry and designing websites so I can be with my 3 children.

Just be creative and realize that a lot of work isn't 9-5 anymore. Ask your employer if you can handle some accounts at home. When your baby starts sleeping well you could have 2-3 hours at a time at home to get some work in. Or on nights and weekends when the father is home, you could do accounts.

Don't feel guilty about being home with your baby and not helping pay bills. Remember that raising a child is THE most important job anyone can do. The father should be glad you make this commitment.

All the best to you!

take your maternity leave that the law allows. Trust me you will not be up for having a baby and then returning the following week to work. I would wait at least 6 weeks before returning to work if you need the money. Your job is protected, if you tell your employer now he has more than enough time to make arrangements for the shortage of your position ahead of time. However, make sure that the money you will be bringing home is enough to make a difference after working all paycheck. My friend after day care costs was only going to be bringing in an additional $150. Not much effort for a month of work, so she stayed home with the kid. Good luck to you.

most doctors will not let you return to work for atleast 4-6 weeks after giving birth. Your body needs time to heal. It's good that you want to help out, but you mght not be able to do so this year. One thing that you could do now is pay bills ahead for the time that you are going to be off work. or ask if there is a chance of taking some things home from work so that you can still get paid a little while you are off.

it's totally your choice.
I personally would rather cut a few corners and make a few sacrifices to stay home w/ my baby.
But some ppl just don't have that luxury.
Maybe look into jobs you could do mostly from home. Internet stuff, etc. That way, you're bringing in some extra money w/out having to pay for daycare.
