Toby Keith - You Ain't Much Fun (Since I Quit Drinkin')

The song is about a man character who has regained his senses since his alcohol binges, and realizes reality is still more harsh than the temporary nirvana of guzzling himself to sweet oblivion. The song does NOT carry out what the man will do after realizing his situation. I believe the song is meant in fun and does not seriously reflect the ideals of Mr. Keith's actual feelings or glorify getting drunk, though people who are trying to justify their own libations will proably thumb this down.

Songs are made to be bought. That's why Toby cut it and put it on his album. Interpret it how you will.

I think a great song is "How To Save a Life" by the Fray, which is actually about an addiction intervention. Though it never specifically says drugs or alcohol, it definitely fits your request for a song about a conflict between two people.

The lyrics say something like, "Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend / Somewhere along in the bitterness / And I would have stayed up with you all night / Had I known how to save a life". Also in the song he basically gives guidelines to having tough conversations or leading an intervention. ("Step one you say we need to talk / He walks you say sit down it's just a talk / He smiles politely back at you / You stare politely right on through")

I am not really a "young person" (almost 25), but I think most people, when they hear this, don't really understand or listen very carefully to the lyrics - it just all kind of goes over their heads.

Untitled by simple plan. Love that song!
1. You can't tell by the lyrics if you didn't know while listening, but I've heard the song is about a victim of a drunk driving accident. Some of the lyrics relay that.
#2. Example:
Everybody's screaming
I try to make a sound but no one hears me
I'm slipping off the edge
I'm hanging by a thread
I wanna start this over again
So I try to hold onto a time when nothing mattered
And I can't explain what happened
And I can't erase the things that I've done
No I can't

How could this happen to me
I made my mistakes
Got no where to run
The night goes on
As I'm fading away
I'm sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me
3. When I heard it at first it was unclear what the meaning was. Now every time I hear it I think of what could happen to someone driving drunk. Whether it's killing themself or someone else.
Hope this helps and that I didn't make this too long!! :)

And, of direction, the only ... I get no kick from cocaine ... are not able to don't forget the usual, however Bryan Ferry did a variant of it .. I get a kick out of you, that was once it. Poor historic Bryan does not get a point out on wikipedia - most effective persons like Frank Sinatra - certainly not heard his variant.
