Yes, when I was about 15 years old home pressures, teen awkwardness, and a wanderlust for adventure made me take money I'd earned from working in tobacco fields and purchase a ticket on the Grey Dog (Greyhound Bus Lines) en route to Atlanta, GA. It was my original intention to walk the railroad tracks all the way to Georgia with my best friend (the tracks didn't follow the highway therefore our travels would theoretically be obscured by vegetation and farmland for most of the journey), but as the time to actually "do" this drew closer, he backed out of the enitre plan. (Cowardice or intelligence, I can't remember which...).
It was a long and eventful trip as I met a very colorful and diverse assortment of people and encountered very flamboyant personalities. I also ate in every "greasy spoon" restaurant along the way (which I really enjoy even now) when the bus stopped for scheduled layovers between Kentucky and Georgia. And, though I enjoyed the adventure immensely, it was a short-lived elation as I was immediately detained by police in the Atlanta terminal and returned to Kentucky. My mother was tearfully relieved and then ferociously angry when I arrived more or less unharmed.
I'm constrained to point out that those were very different times back then (and it was a dumb, unsafe gesture even then)...attempting something like this now is completely il-advised. But I have always been stubborn, which is why my children frighten me at times...not so much worried about what they've done as what they have a capacity to do. (Karma's just funny that way.)
Recently I spoke to someone here in this forum advising them against running away because it makes "running away" that much easier in other areas of life...I believe this to be an accurate assessment. And for the life of me I can't fully recall why I wanted to run away in the first place, but it was all-consuming at the time. Thank you again, Sarah for the look backwards.

Yes but only because my life was being endangered. It lasted about 5 minutes before the cops came and took me to the a hospital where I was safer. I went to a neighbors house and called 911. I was taken home only after an older sibiling was back to normal for the time being and I was futhermore not in as much danger.

I ran away when I was 16. Lived on the street for about 2 weeks. Ate out of dumpsters. Fast food dumpsters were great. My mom was worried sick...I felt bad for making her worry.
It wasn't because my life at home was horrible or even bad. It was just out of boredom and the experience.

as a young child of about 9 i threatened to run away as i was packing my mom asked me what was i going to use to open my tuna with (yes i was prepared) i went to obtain one from the kitchen she said if i wanted to run away then i would not be allowed the luxuries that went w/the house (meaning the opener) so i just stayed in the backyard until it got real dark and told my mom i had changed my mine :-) now since i have three children i have put on my wings (from the $ store)
and have tried on several occasions to fly away from my children, ex specially when they seam to be misbehaving yelling at one another etc.... i still get my wings out every now and then :-D just to fly away (((((BB))))) lorl

I never ran away from home. I just never had the desire. My sister ran away once with her boyfriend and I thought how stupid was that? She called home a few days after that.
