Is there any particular phrase or point they repeat that drives you crazy?

For me this season, it has to be when they talk about getting the ball to a given player "in space". First off, "in space" is pretty vague. Secondly, isn't the goal always to get the ball to a guy "in space" so that he has room to do more? It seems to come up somewhere every day now.

Any others that bother you in particular?

Anything out of the mouth of John Madden. I can't stand how they all lie so much. Networks will not let them speak freely. This can be proven each week. If you listen each week on every team you will hear them all say that this player is the best in the league as a Wide Receiver. They will all say this is the best College Defensive Safety. Basically what ever team is playing they will have the best. Sometimes you can catch them saying it about the same player in a position on both teams in the same game. This is because they can't speak their minds and come out and say this guy sucks so bad he should be on the bench guarding the Gatorade.

TONY KORNHEISER, hands down. I love him on "PTI" and as a journalist, but that's what he is. A journalist. He does not in any way belong in that booth. If you listen closely, while he does comment on the game, all of his comments are journalist-slanted. He looks for "stories." He wants to talk about yesterday's headlines, and what tomorrow's headlines will be. Jaws will talk about a player, but Kornheiser will always want to talk about what he should say about that player in the paper tomorrow. By the time you get into the game, all the off-field stuff should be mentioned as what it is; a "distraction" from what's going on right now, which is the game. Jaws knows this; you can hear his reluctance to talk at length about off-field stuff, like the scandals and controversies and such, but he knows that if he doesn't offer his opinion, Kornheiser will off spouting his own ideas, which could take the entire game to tell. So Jaws tries to close the story, end the discussion, and get back to the game, and every now and then you can faintly hear his annoyance that Kornheiser is STILL TALKING about the subject.

Ex-Players that say "What I would have done"...Collingsworth was big on that; they all seem to over inflate what their ability was. Collingsworth has gotten better the past few years but for a while you would have thought he was a Hall of Fame receiver. The other thing that I hear all the time that annoys me is the guy who tries to use big words but has NO idea what they mean..."exponentially" is the big catch phrase. Madden is almost unwatchable at this point in his career because you have no idea what he is saying and too many other old players just grate on your nerves for three hours.

I hate every key to the game is, They have to protect the football. Really? They don't want to turn it over? Maybe that guy should be a coach and not in the booth with that kind of insight.

It would have to be how they talk about a game being a blow out when the score is 7 to 0 in the first half.

It's when they use mixed-sports metaphors, like "such and such a team is pitching a shutout." I hate that, leave Baseball lingo for Baseball and just use football jargon.

I think it's when they try to expand their vocabulary "exponentially"... I must have heard that word 20 times on Sunday...

I turn off the TV when the announcer says, "This is Michael Irvin," it's over right then for me.
