Cut out the "I hate Bush" politics! The Governor is the one who calls out the National Guard.
There are fire fighters from all over the State of California on the fire lines.
When the times comes the gov will call out the Guard.
And.....not all Guard units are in Iraq!

Funny you ask that question because I was wondering what type of system they could put in place to keep this from happening. Not all National Guardsman are firefighters. This is a huge problem. Where would you suggest they start? I think that a system should be implemented that would allow irrigation when a problem occured, ie a sprinkler system of sorts or somewhere to pump the water from... something to keep the area moist. This is an ongoing problem, and not the first time California has seen wildfires... The problem is that it gets so heated and dry that a brush fire is just about inevitable.

Have you packed sandwiches and drinks for the firefighters? Are you donating any clothes, money etc for some of the ones who may not be so financially fortunate? Are you praying for them? for rain?

That is a question for Gov Schwartzkennedy since he controls where the California National Guard goes and what it does, not the President. That being said, they are not trained as firefighters, so what could they do?
