Definitely hardcover. It's the whole idea of savoring each word as you hold the book and turn the pages, eagerly waiting the next twist or turn or the words that will seal a romance or doom a life. I don't always have time in my life to curl up and read when I want to so I take my book with me to doctors' appointments (you know you're going to wait and the magazines are always so old), or while I'm waiting to pick someone up after work or school. Even a few pages reading time is precious.
The computer screen makes my eyes tired in such a short time. I look away trying to refocus and then I can't find my place on the screen again. Funny how this never happens with a real book. There isn't a chair designed that can make sitting at a computer comfortable for any length of time.
With a hardcover book I can add it to my personal library if I really enjoyed it and want to keep it. If I don't I can always pass it on to a friend, or donate it to charity or the public library. Buying a real book is never a waste.

I personally would buy the hard copy because I like physically holding a book when I read it and have a verylarge bookshelf to put it on

No. E-books sell much cheaper than hardcopy books because of the nuisance of having to read it from a computer. A hardcopy book can be read anywhere.
E-books are preferable if hard copies of a particular work are hard to come by.

Hard copy for sure. I don't like staring at the comp screen to read. You can take the book anywhere with you also.
But thats just me.

I'm not a fan of e-books. First because they're not as convenient or comfortable, and second because the e-publishers are not as rigorous about screening out poor efforts, because their costs are so low a mistake hurts them very little.

Hardcover. Sitting at a computer for too long makes me tense. I can take a book anywhere I want, and can read it as long as I have enough light. Nice, low-tech entertainment/brain candy.
