I'm pregnant again! I'll be honest, last pregnancy health wasn't my top priority. I ate what I wanted and I really didn't care about how much weight I gained. I didn't really exercise except week thirty-nine when I was trying to walk my son out. LOL!

This pregnancy I'm really trying so very hard to be as healthy as possible. I drink fruit smoothies in the morning. I took caffeine totally out of my diet. I'm exercising everyday. I'm just really trying to be heatlh conscious.

So, for the women who were healthy and fit during their pregnancy, do you feel your labor and post partum weight loss went better then had you not been so? If not, what do you think contributed to that? Anything else you'd like to share?

Thanks!!

I was so sick with my first pregnancy that health was not a top priority. I was lucky to eat and keep down what I could.

With subsequent pregnancies, I've learned to manage my morning sickness better, and therefore concentrate on a better diet.

I have found that even during the pregnancy a good diet is beneficial. By eating right, I have less gas, bloating and constipation. Staying moderately active is also good for the digestive system and it also helps build your endurance.

It's tough to go from being totally sedentary to enduring a 24 hour hard labor. It's a "workout" you would do well to be prepared for.

Some of my pregnancy "exercises" are nothing more than going through the motions of labor. That is, squatting for periods of time, stretching my back and doing Kegels.

As for weight loss, I have not seen much of a difference. With all my babies I've gained somewhere between 25-35 pounds and so I have about the same to lose with each one. I try to breastfeed and give the weight loss process at least 6 months time. I "boost" it a little with things like keeping my meal portions small, cutting out sugary drinks and replacing refined starches with complex carbs.

my last pregnancy i ate really well fruit veg and salad everyday 3 whole healthy meals a day i still gained 3 and half stone though.
Gave birth to a 7lb6oz boy and lost my weight too quickly after birth, about 3 months after his birth i,d lost all my pregnancy weight plus alot more.

This time ive ate what ever i wanted still ate fruit and veg aswell but not to the same extent, ive got 6 weeks left and ive only gained just over a stone this time.
I want to loose my weight after the birth but i dont want it to go as quickly as last time as i ended up losing too much weight and it took me two years to try and gain the extra weight i had lost to look a healthy size again.

I did absolutely NOTHING different between all three of my pregnancies (except for cutting back on caffeine and fish) and I had EXTREMELY different results.

1st pregnancy - gained 60lbs, fast easy delivery
2nd pregnancy - gained 13 lbs, slower delievery, but still easy.
3rd pregnancy - gained 25 lbs, SUPER easy birth, FAST recovery and all my weight is gone and I'm close to reaching my pre-pregnancy weight from the 1st time around. lol
