The Minotaur, as the Greeks imagined him, had the body of a man and the head and tail of a bull. Pasiphaë nursed him in his infancy, but he grew and became ferocious. Minos, after getting advice from the Oracle at Delphi, had Daedalus construct a gigantic labyrinth to hold the Minotaur. Its location was near Minos' palace in Knossos. Minos required that seven Athenian youths and seven maidens, drawn by lots, be sent every ninth year (some accounts say every year) to be devoured by the Minotaur. When the third sacrifice came round, Theseus volunteered to go to slay the monster. He promised to his father, Aegeus, that he would put up a white sail on his journey back home if he was successful. Ariadne, the daughter of Minos, fell in love with Theseus and helped him get out of the labyrinth. In most accounts she gives him a ball of thread, allowing him to retrace his path. Theseus killed the Minotaur with Aegus' sword and led the other Athenians back out of the labyrinth.

Well, it's more of the story behind them. According to legend, every year, the king (spartans?) would take a boat full of youth and throw them down a hole, into a maze where the minotaur lived, then the minotaur would eat them.

NOT "minotaurs"

There is only one in mythology, multiples are used in crappy fiction books (see posts above)

The freakiest thing the Minotaur did was chase young people in a maze, then rape them and eat them.

I read somewhere on the Net that the Minotaur was genetically created by the Nephelim angles.

There was only one Minotaur in greek mythology, and his mother was a human and his father was a bull....that's pretty freaky.

Well the fact that they are beasts with body like a man and a bull's head isn't freaky enough?

In most stories they rape and/or kill women- human women. From some sources I've heard that they can't be held responsible for what they do- it's not their fault that no females of their own were created, right?
