Family Guy often leaves me confused as to what the heck is supposed to be going on, and whether the writers had a script 5 minutes too short, and decided to put in a Peter-Chicken duel to fatten the episode out.
But saying that, I've laughed pretty hard at some of the jokes and situations, so that kind of balances it out. The animation's a bit lazy at times (often when peter falls flat on his face), but they do some pretty good animation when they want to.

I can't really speak for South Park, because the most recent ones i've seen are "You got F'd in the A" and The one where the British invade, and the queen kills herself (on my brothers computer).
I like the animation in South Park better, because it's more original and the animators have to work harder to achieve particular effects and movements (in my opinion, anyway). I also enjoy the smarter political and social humour that South park can offer.

In conclusion, I prefer South Park, but while I used to hate Family Guy, I do enjoy it.

Family Guy plagiarizes from The Simpsons ALL THE TIME and South Park is just about the everyday lives of four boys...so South Park wins.

South Park fershure.

South Park is for more mature people and family guy is for kids and teenagers with an attention span of about four seconds, hence all the hopping around/switching scenes they do.

South Park all the way. Family Guy has jokes between jokes, it's kinda annoying.

South Park is more original. It also is fresher and hasn't run out of ideas. Family guy started getting repetitive in Season 3, SP is in it's 11th season and still going strong.
