Assuming you are playing D&D 3.5, at first level you get the maximum hit points for the die, plus your constitution modifier.

A bard has a D6 hit die, so at level 1 you could get 6 + your CON modifier HP.

At each later level, you will get D6 + your CON modifier.

You only add the CON modifier, not the whole CON score; so if your CON is 12, you have a +1, and would get 7 HP at level 1.

Happy gaming!

As I recall from my days as a DM you roll the d6 twice, max hit points 12. Same for all attributes all characters.

You do like to wash in mystery. Is this the Jedediah the mountain man or Jedidiah the wanderer, the prophet? Or is this the Jedidiah that reappears in successive generations, always preaching the same true knowledge, never learned? I guess we will have to turn the pages carefully!
