I keep hearing that hockey can't be easily found on US TV. So how do you guys down there find games to watch?

In Florida, there is a TV Station, Sun Sports, that televises every Lightning game and FSN televises every Panther game.
And as you know, we have Versus.
A lot of people also get Center Ice, and contrary to popular belief, people also go to watch games live.

When I lived near Detroit I used to watch games all the time on standard tv, FOX, and also on ESPN or the Sunshine Network. Was no problem at all watching Pro Hockey and sometimes NCAA college hockey. When moved to Orlando it was almost impossible to find a game unless had cable with a lot of sports channels or go out to a club/ bar that played hockey games which wasn't easy either. Now that I'm in the Raleigh, NC area where the Carolina Hurricanes play only approx 4 miles from where I live I'm still not able to see them on TV like did when lived near Detroit but I don't have cable so they might be on it. NHL Hockey is my favorite sport of all time along with College Football. So I guess the answer is that you can see it all the time if you have a lot of channels on cable or live in a city that really loves it's hockey team and has a lot of fans! Of course the Detroit Red Wings are still and always will be my favorite team, even though I haven't lived there in about 11 years!

Direct Tv's Center Ice package, especially important since I'm a Devils fan living in South Carolina. But when I'm up in NJ it's FSNY or occasionally MSG. The regional sports networks still show hockey it's just not shown nationally as much as in Canada. BTW I tend to get the local feeds for away games, and that Hockey Night in Canada thing's pretty cool to watch.

Being in Florida, and contrary to what's been stated, the Panthers most certainly do not have every game televised. Heck, in just the past week, FoxSports Florida did not show the Montreal - road! - game...the one in which the Cats slept through 59 minutes and 50 seconds, only to score the tying goal before winning in the SO. Might have liked to seen that in living color. Yeah...no hockey fans from Quebec in South Florida during autumn. No market here.

And forget about televised games in early spring: the alleged major league baseball team that plays in an empty football stadium has precedence. The final game of the season isn't even being broadcast.

Versus has good production values, but I'm getting tired of counting to channel 400-something to see an "exclusive" broadcast of a game that I have no interest in...at the expense of my home team.

A colossal joke. Herr Bettman's reign of terror continues.

I just have the standard cable package, and just about all the Wings games are on FSN Detroit, which is local for Michigan, then there is Versus that has a few, and NBC will carry some and then I have CBC which carries quite a few games....I watch HNIC often....So yeah, I guess it depends where you are in the US as to how many and what games you'll pick up.

I have a standard 74 channel cable service. It has VS, the only US international cable channel that carries hockey. More importantly, I have Altitude which broadcasts almost all of the Avs games, around 74 I think, the rest are on VS and NBC. I also have NBC which shows the afternoon games starting sometime in January. I have all the channels that show hockey in the US, except for NHL network.

~

Oh and yeah, I live in Denver, they show all the Avs games in Denver.

I'm for Team USA (being American and all), and as much as I hate to admit it, depending on the country they're playing (of course), I usually root for Team Canada. Now, naturally, Canada rarely reciprocates the cheering and usually roots for anybody that wants to defeat Team USA. When the World Juniors were in Buffalo last year, all the Canadians would come down and the Team USA games would be filled with around a 70% Canadian audience and they'd always root for the other team (I recall the game I went to vividly). I even rooted for Canada in the final game against Russia last year! But it's the attitude of the Canadians at the games (aka always anti-American) that kind of make you happy they lost... Hope I could be of some assistance to you! Cheers!

Youve heard wrong.!
I live in North Carolina, and I have Time Warner Cable. They have this thing where you can order NHL Ice Center Package. And it shows every game that is playing every night. And there is FSN South that shows the Hurricanes games. And there is Versus that shows some hockey games.

I get most of the Flyers games on my standard Comcast cable,
I get the Versus network, I get over 1000 games per season on Center Ice($150US), and I have Hershey Bears season tickets.

Its not a problem here, I wish I had as much time as I have access to watching hockey.

Well, the Red Wings broadcast their games on FSN in Detroit. Occasionally, they'll have the games on Fox (local not national). And then there's the chance that it will be on CBC or NBC. Hell, even if they're not on CBC, I'll watch HNIC.

On top of that, there is VS.

I don't have cable though so I can't get most of the games unless they're on local TV.
