If you have poor credit many larger corporations will not hire you. Part of the background check is to make sure your credit is good, they figure bad credit = high theft risk and other risks.

Anyone who says otherwise is ignorant.

By the way, the best thing to do is explain your situation in the interview. If they want you they may be able to override the issue, but they wont bother to do it if theyre surprised.
In my case the issue was a family member/boss with terminal cancer, so it made it pretty easy to explain, but just try to let them know it was a temporary set back and youre on the road to recovery.

I have and do work for some and at the present one of the better companies out there and yes they will check your credit score. Do I agree with it no? Does it happen yes. It is a sign of responsibility and that is needed as you rise up the ladder. For a retail position, or a stocking position, or any other entry level position no this will not happen, but the higher paying positions yes is almost a prerequisite in attaining the job.

Credit doesn't play a role in getting a job. You should look in either the Health Care or Financial Services field, as those will be the top career fields for at least the next 15 yrs. If you're interested in helping people, want to make great money, and do things you only ever dreamed of, contact me and I will set you up with someone in the financial field who can teach you to do just that.

No.
Getting a good job is selling yourself. Be yourself and try for jobs you are actually qualified for. Look for something that may not be great today, but allows for the opportunity to learn and advance yourself within the company.
