Spud Web for example, what size was he 5ft 7 or something, and he won the dunk comp all them years ago, I have tried everything to jump higher, even wearing silly shoes like high heal type things to try and make my leg muscles stonger but no good. At 5ft 11 I can only touch the back board.

Most of these answers are bullshit

Race doesn't matter if you watch the Olympic high jump a real test of vertical ability you will see loads of different races able to do it including white

If people stay with this mindset that because I'm white i cant jump then yeah your right you cant.

Some people are just naturally gifted but most worked at it

Exercise, exercise, exercise.

Here is one the my cousin (a college basketball coach) has. It even has a guarantee: If you do this faithfully everyday, and are 5'9" or over (white or black); in 6 months you will be able to slam-dunk the ball.

Here it is:
(Without a ball), below the net jump and reach with your right hand, touching as far as you can up the net (or the iron if you can). Then jump and reach with your left hand. Repeat this for a solid 1/2 hour. The first day you might not even be able to make 20 minutes, but keep trying. It's boring and dumb, but it works -- it worked for me.

After about 1 week you'll probably notice that you can touch a little higher on the net or, if you are already touching the iron with your fingertips, maybe it's up to your first knucke-joint now. That's one good thing about this exercise -- you can see your progress. It may be slow, but it's progress. Another good thing about this exercise is: it develops the coordination for jumping to the rim (for dunking).

Obviously, when you can touch your lower arm to the iron, you should be high enough to dunk.

For you, since you can already touch the backboard, I would imagine you don't need a full 6 months before you are the new white "spud webb'".

If you're not much taller than 6'(1 85cm) and dunking is difficult and doesn't comes normally to you then you need this system from here https://tr.im/HzZjv to learn how to dunk with no problem.

I know some white guys who are like 5'8" and can dunk. Some people are just naturally athletic. African Americans, as a race, are naturally more athletic because it is in their genetics.

This might sound wrong, but it's factually true. African Americans as a whole are more athletic because they're less deverse. Their ancestors had to be more athletic to survive the wild of Africa. Meanwhile, Europeans had to adapt in other ways, and they became more cunning and relied more heavily on other forms of transportation.

However, there are always exceptions and, for the most part, anyone can train their bodies to do many things. The human body has tons of potential.

Speed and jumping ability comes from the hips. Most black athletes have strong hips. Hips is where the speed and power are generated. Maybe it is hereditary being the reason so many have this ability. You would think just moving your legs faster will make you run faster, but it just isn't that simple. You may want to, but it just doesn't happen. You can work out and practice and you might get better, but basically you have it or you don't.

Not sure but I heard somewhere that African Americans have different lower leg muscles. More "High twitch" fibers. Something like that. Helps them to be more explosive while running, jumping, etc.

But Spudd Webb is probably just a freak. Some guys can just do things they shouldn't be able to.

I've known several white guys who were 5'10"+ who could dunk.
My brother and I are the same height (5'9")and he can dunk. I can get close but not quite.

Don't depend on shoes to do it for you. Work your leg muscles out.

(And, I have known black guys who couldn't dunk)

So white men like fat Asian women persons? I under no circumstances considered that? i do no longer think of maximum persons of white men like fat women persons era, and fat and short is even worst. i'm no longer against fat women persons in any respect,i'm merely asserting..

White men can't jump.

Have you tried those training shoes that have the big "disc" surface on the fronts that focus on standing on your "calves" that are meant to increase jumping/sprinting?
