You're gonna get too many conflicting answers here. We don't know your cycle. However, even a little bit of blood through-out the day is enough to suggest that you started your period 2 days ago. That's not definite though. Do you usually start out your period with a heavy flow or a light flow? If you usually start with a heavy flow, then the spotting you experienced may not have been the "official" first day.
Now I'm curious as to WHY this is so urgent?

the day you see any red at all, even if it was a spot of red blood. Count that as day 1. So for you it would be 2 days ago.
I know this because I was on birth control for 8 years and based on the times I would take the sugar/inactive pills, my period would always start real light (pink and red spots) then it would be a full flow by the third day by the fifth day it was back to spots then gone.

According to my RE: the first day of your period is when you are bleeding, not spotting. I always start out spotting, but before the end of the day I'm full-blown bleeding. If I were you, I'd go with yesterday as the first day of your period.

HI Tink,
I would say at the first sign, 2 days ago, but....
why is that so important if you're not thinking/afraid about getting pregnant? are you?
Mark your calendar on the first sign of blood and how long it takes and after two to three month you'll be able to find the pattern.
If you're trying to conceive - use other methods
If you're trying to avoid getting pregnant - use other methods.
Counting days is not a good method.
When I was young I had my period every 45-52 days, never stable, it was cool, until I wanted to get pregnant. Easy, I went to my doctor he fixed it and I got pregnant immediately.
I hope it helps.
Happy thoughts can help!

It is when you have a red flow. Since you had 2 days of pink I would avg it an call it DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY. I really have lost faith in those fertility calculators since one predicted that I would o on day 16-17 and I in fact did on day 14. Had I trusted that I would have missed it all together. I charted and took opk so luckily I caught it.

I've always considered day 1 when I get the full red flow..... I've tried to be as accurate as possible in determining this when starting to use contraceptives and they haven't failed so far, so I think that considering day 1 the first day with full flow is accurate..... just me!!!

2 days ago. But days of "flow" vary...just because you usually have it for 4 days, if you just spotted the first two, then it may last longer than usual!
