There are 104 men born to every 100 women. Male infants usually are not as strong and they where a little more likely to die. Since medical science has improved the number of deaths have been reduced.
That's all I know as far as birth. Not sure about the world in general.

I think that there are more women then men in the world, especially if you account for all the things that can affect the length of life between the two sexes.

According to the CIA World Factbook the breakdown of sexes by age:
0-14 years: 27.4% (male 931,551,498/female 875,646,416)
15-64 years: 65.1% (male 2,174,605,518/female 2,124,494,703)
65 years and over: 7.5% (male 217,451,123/female 278,474,917) (2007 est.)
According to that, men outnumber women by just a bit. The grand total would be 50.3% men and 49.7% women.

Notice, I am the only one so far who is giving a link to back up my numbers. Everyone else seems to be guessing.
